About me.
I am a trust specialist barrister based in Christchurch. I offer legal advice about the law of trusts, estates and relationship property, including the Trusts Act 2019, the relationship property-trusts nexus, claims against deceased estates, applications under the Trustee Act 1956 and legal issues for incapacitated persons. I have appeared before the High Court and the Family Court.
I am a member of the New Zealand Law Society Canterbury-Westland Branch Trusts Committee for 2019-2021 and a fully qualified member of STEP, the peak body for trusts & estates practitioners internationally.
Prior to commencing practice as a barrister, I was a Senior Lecturer in law at the University of Canterbury. I have also worked for leading law firms in New Zealand and overseas.
I regularly write for New Zealand and international journals about issues of trust law, and combine my practice with interdisciplinary research about women’s health as an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, La Trobe University, Australia.
I have over 20 publications including a sole-authored book, an edited collection of ‘feminist judgments, and an edited collection of essays on commercial surrogacy.
